NNEMAP FOOD PANTRY
Grooming Kit Project
Remember the old saying “Cleanliness is next to Godliness?”. Maybe that’s not totally true, but to the poor and homeless population in Columbus, being able to maintain good personal hygiene is oftentimes a challenge when hunger is a bigger issue.
NNEMAP (Near NE Materials Assistance Program) is seeking assistance with organizing grooming kits for its clients. Sharon Hatem, St. Luke’s rep to NNEMAP, has provided large zip-lock bags (located near St. Luke’s front and side doors); each bag is labeled with items to purchase and put in the bags for distribution to clients. All items can be purchased at any local dollar store (total net worth of bag would be about $10). St. Luke’s goal is to have 50 bags filled and returned to NNEMAP for distribution to clients in October.
Please take a bag(s), fill them with items indicated on the bag label, and return to the NNEMAP food box (in the church sanctuary, near the side door) by Sunday, September 30th. Sharon will take them to NNEMAP that week for distribution.

“A Night At The Museum” Fundraiser-Saturday, September 22nd
We will kick off NNEMAP’s 50th anniversary celebration this September at the Ohio History Center. Our pantry was started in 1969, and the Ohio History Center’s groundbreaking for their building was also in 1969. Enjoy some wonderful ethnic food from the Linden community. Addis Restaurant will bring Ethiopian food, Ena’s will bring Caribbean food, The Pit will bring barbecue, and Auddino’s Bakery will take care of the sweets. Come and enjoy the exhibits, listen to 60’s music from the Bruise Brothers, and learn more about what was happening in 1969! The event begins at 7PM. Children are also welcome.
Backpacks for Windsor STEM Elementary and Hamilton STEM Elementary
Thanks to the generous congregations at Trinity UMC, St. Mark’s Episcopal, and King Ave. UMC, we have delivered 750 backpacks filled with supplies to the school administrators to distribute to their students. Thank you! Thank you!
